✨ North Carolina Community College System is now offering Google Career Certificates and AI training across its 58 community colleges. Students in North Carolina will have the opportunity to develop the in-demand skills to align with the evolving needs of today’s workforce. The community college system will make Google Career Certificates available as for-credit courses and non-credit offerings, and will also include Google AI Essentials and Prompting Essentials in their three credit AI Survey course. This #VeteransDay, we're honoring Avon Cornelius, who exemplifies the incredible skills and dedication veterans bring to the workforce. After a decade on the front lines, Avon transitioned to public relations and marketing roles within the U.S. Army, discovering a passion that would shape his future. When his 20 years of service came to an end, he felt a mix of excitement and apprehension about re-entering civilian life. He decided to build on the transferable skills he gained in the army by completing the Google Digital Marketing & E-Commerce Certificate. The flexibility of the certificate allowed him to take care of his family and job hunt at the same time. After Avon completed the certificate, he shared, “It definitely helped me as I was interviewing with companies. I was able to talk about the greatest relevant trends and topics which helped me get a couple of different job offers.” Shortly after, he accepted a position at Chicago Public Media, leading marketing for two radio stations and a newspaper. This role brought a 20% salary increase, a hybrid work schedule with improved work-life balance, and the confidence of becoming a "10x better marketer." Avon's success didn't stop there. He recently joined Booz Allen Hamilton as a Brand and Communications Lead, leveraging his skills and experiences to continue advancing his career.
