Back by popular demand, SimpliSafe hosted its Second Annual Mario Kart Grand Prix -- this year, with more competitors, hype, and energy than ever before! 🏎 🎮 Over the last few weeks, SimpliSafers gathered in our Boston HQ to show off their Mario Kart skills and cheer on their peers. After three rounds of competition, Michael Riina was deemed our champion for the second year in a row. Congratulations, Michael! And a huge thank you to Victoria Smith and Chris Kelleher for organizing the event.

There's no safe like SimpliSafe.
About us
Being safe should be simple. SimpliSafe designs home security systems that are wireless, cellular and so user-friendly they can be set up by anyone in minutes. An ever-expanding arsenal of sensors and the SimpliSafe security camera, SimpliCam, provides all-encompassing protection while integrated apps make comprehensive system control possible from anywhere. But SimpliSafe is way more than its great products. It’s also seamless 24/7 professional monitoring, without the long-term contracts and sky-high prices of traditional alarm companies. Currently, SimpliSafe protects over 2 million Americans and that number is quickly rising. In 2014, the company was ranked in The Inc. 500 as one of the fastest growing private companies in the nation with a 3,076% 3-year growth rate. SimpliSafe is ushering in a new era — one where anyone anywhere can have a security system that’s not only simple, but also on the cutting edge. Last week, our Senior IP counsel, David Soucy, served as an expert panelist for the Boston Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society (U.S.A. and Canada), Inc., entitled "Building, Licensing, and Commercializing an AI IP Portfolio." Dave was joined by Jennifer Burdman of Sauvegarder Investment Management and Gideon Myles of OpenAI. Moderated by Scott Forman of Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP, the panel discussed business strategies for commercializing and licensing AI innovations, building an IP portfolio that supports those strategies, and key terms to address in licensing negotiations from both the licensor and licensee perspective. These topics have grown increasingly important at SimpliSafe as we scale our offerings to encompass AI technology that better serves our customers and proactively enhances their safety. We're proud to have Dave on our team, who is helping us forge forward in our mission of making every home secure, as well as sharing his knowledge with those who are looking to grow their AI IP portfolios.

One of our core values is "One Team," and that value was put on full display last weekend when 16 SimpliSafers took on the Spartan Race in Fenway Park. For the event, our fearless team competed in a 5K with 20 obstacles ranging from sandbag carries to rope climbs. Participants weaved throughout Fenway Park -- through the stands, field, the Green Monster and even the locker rooms and dugouts -- to tackle each challenge. Congratulations to all our participants: Alice Chiang, Danielle Coderre, Danielle Dean, PhD, Christian Cerda, Hooman Shahidi, Larry Jacobson, Janie Gondek (Pascoe), Maura Kelleher, Julie Ruotulo, Jonathan Schill, Kim Elder, George K., Jenna Slota, Jenny Chang, Irene Lee, and Scott Von Stein! 💪

To start off your week, we recommend listening to the latest Great Mondays podcast featuring our very own Chief People Officer, Ai-Li Lim! In the episode, Ai-Li sits down with host Josh Levine ⚡️ to discuss SimpliSafe's unique work culture, strong values and hybrid work model. For SimpliSafe employees, it should come as no surprise to learn about the amount of thought and effort the executive and people teams put into cultivating a workplace culture that is welcoming, flexible and accessible to all our employees. Check out the episode below! 🎙

💻 🏠 Navigating hybrid work isn’t just about where people sit—it’s about aligning how and why they work. When I spoke with Ai-Li Lim, Chief People Officer at SimpliSafe, their approach stood out: decisions about their hybrid model weren’t just practical—they were rooted in purpose. For a safety and security company like Simplisafe, integration between teams is critical. So, when they set a hybrid schedule, they made sure everyone was in the office on the same days. Why? Because collaboration thrives when the right people are in the room at the right time—not just in the same building. Their decisions leaned heavily on two core values: One Team and Lean and Nimble. By tying the “how” of hybrid work to their culture and business strategy, they made the purpose clear to everyone—from customer support teams who’ve always been on-site to HQ staff adjusting to hybrid. And yes, there were challenges—change is rarely easy—but grounding these shifts in their values helped build understanding and trust. Simplisafe’s approach is a reminder: workplace strategies work best when they reflect your culture and purpose. Last month, our Global Lead Product Counsel, Greg Penoyer, visited his alma mater to speak at Suffolk University Law School IP Center’s 6th Annual IP & Innovation Conference. Greg shared the podium with local IP leaders from top law firms to discuss recent changes in patent law and infringement assertions. Our Legal team is committed to supporting the next generation of diverse legal minds by participating in such development programs and educating them on the importance of protecting customer-focused innovation. Greg (and our entire legal team) truly exemplifies SimpliSafe's "lift as we climb" mindset. Go, Greg!

A huge shout-out is in order for our Monitoring Team, which was recently recognized by The Monitoring Association as its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) 2024 Leadership Award Winner!
I'm incredibly proud to share that SimpliSafe's Monitoring Team has been recognized by The Monitoring Association as its Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) 2024 Leadership Award winner! The Monitoring Association and Security Systems News created the DEI Leadership Award back in 2022 as a way to promote and foster a more inclusive workforce throughout the security industry. Building a welcoming workspace and employee culture has always been at the center of SimpliSafe, and this award is a testament to our commitment to make everyone feel secure, valued, celebrated and included. This recognition would not have been possible without our outstanding Monitoring Leadership Team and its DEI efforts. A lot of hard work went into launching our Monitoring Center in Richmond, VA both functionally and culturally. I'm in awe of what the team has built.

Earlier this month, the Boston HQ welcomed top performers from our Sales, Customer Success and Loyalty teams to celebrate their achievements. These SimpliSafers truly embody SimpliSafe's customer-obsessed mindset. Congratulations!
One of the best parts of my job is spending time with our exceptional SimpliSafers across our Go-To-Market teams in Sales, Customer Success, and Loyalty. This month, these top performers traveled to Boston from Richmond, where we celebrated them for the week as well as focused on new connections and growth! While this group comes from diverse roles and backgrounds, they all share three key qualities: 1. Passion for Our Customers: They are deeply committed to serving our customers and are proud to be part of the SimpliSafe team. 2. Unmatched Work Ethic: …and Big Goals 3. Resilience: No matter the challenges, they remain motivated and focused on achieving results. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication. You truly make a difference!

Earlier this month, SimpliSafe hosted an exclusive media event in New York City to give select press a first look at its latest innovations: SimpliSafe® Active Guard Outdoor Protection and the Outdoor Camera Series 2. This was SimpliSafe's first-ever launch event, and it went off swimmingly! Over the course of the day, consumer technology and lifestyle press from the likes of CNN Underscored, GearBrain, Allure, PEOPLE Magazine | PEOPLE.com and Forbes (to name a few) had the opportunity to speak with our Chief Executive Officer Christian Cerda and Chief Product Officer Hooman Shahidi about the launch news, receive a first-hand demonstration of the new technologies at our "tiny house," and get a glimpse at what happens in our monitoring center during an alarm event. See photos from the launch event below!
