The National Credit Union Foundation (the Foundation) is the charitable arm of the U.S. credit union movement and works as a catalyst to improve people’s financial lives through credit unions. Through grants and programs, the Foundation is strengthening financial well-being, igniting passion and instilling knowledge about the credit union difference, and uniting resources to help credit union people during disaster. Donations to the Foundation ultimately enable credit unions to help their members reach life-changing goals and achieve financial freedom. The Foundation continues to earn the Better Business Bureau seal of approval as an “Accredited Charity” for meeting all 20 BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards for national charities.

Wege, an International Credit Union Development Educator (I-CUDE) and Cooperative Community Advocate at BECU. For over 34 years, Debbie has lived and breathed the credit union mission, touching countless lives with her passion, kindness, and tireless commitment to service. From her early days as a Loan Officer in 1990 to her leadership in financial education and diversity training, Debbie has been a guiding light in the credit union movement. She’s helped countless members, schools, and communities navigate their financial journeys, all while advocating for financial inclusion and access to vital services. Debbie’s influence extends far beyond her title. She played a key role in establishing BECU's first-ever giving strategy, growing the credit union’s community support from $100k to over $3.5 million annually. She’s also developed innovative programs like the Savertooth Classroom Financial Education kits, helping kids and young adults build a solid foundation for their financial future. As BECU CEO Beverly Anderson puts it, "Debbie’s impact is grounded in a deep commitment to the cooperative principles and a tireless advocacy for credit unions.
